More about this tool

A watermark marks a copy with what it is for — text or a logo, at an angle and opacity you choose, sitting behind the page’s content or stamped over it. The live preview shows the real result as you change any setting, and the page range lets you apply it to all pages, the current page, or a custom selection.

When to use it

Most usefully on a copy you are about to hand over: an ID or a form submitted for one specific transaction, a draft that must not be mistaken for final, a quote that is not yet agreed.

What it will not do

A watermark is a label and a deterrent, not security. It is drawn into the page like everything else on it, and someone determined can crop or remove it — do not let it be the reason you feel safe sending an ID. On a scanned page a mark placed behind the content will not show through, because a scan is one opaque image; use the over option there.

Common questions

Can I use my logo as a watermark?

Yes — text or a logo, at the angle and opacity you choose, behind the page’s content or stamped over it.

Can I watermark only some pages?

Yes. Apply it to every page, the current page, or a custom selection, and the live preview shows the real result.

Can someone remove the watermark?

Someone determined can crop or remove it. A watermark labels a copy and discourages misuse, but it is not security.
