More about this tool

Splitting takes pages out of a PDF, three ways: pull a chosen set out as one new document, cut the whole document into several documents at points you place, or cut it into even chunks without choosing anything. All three run on your device.

When to use it

Almost every form that asks for a PDF wants a few specific pages rather than the whole document. Splitting is also the better answer when a file is rejected for being too large — five pages out of fifty is a fraction of the size, far more than compression can achieve.

What it will not do

Pages are copied with their fonts and vectors intact, so text stays selectable and nothing is rasterised. One thing worth checking: a fillable form’s wiring lives at document level and does not follow the pages, so a split copy may no longer be fillable.

Common questions

Can I split a PDF into one file per page?

Yes. Cut it into even chunks — one page each, or any size you choose — or place your own split points to get several documents at once.

How do I take out only a few pages?

Choose the pages you want and pull them out as one new PDF. The original is not changed.

Will a fillable form still be fillable after splitting?

Not always. A form’s field wiring belongs to the whole document rather than to each page, so a split copy may no longer be fillable — worth checking before you send it.
