How to scan documents to PDF
You do not need a flatbed scanner to turn paper into a clean PDF. A phone camera is enough if the page is well lit and held flat. This scanner finds the document edges, straightens the perspective and combines every page into one PDF — entirely on your device, without uploading the photos.
Steps
Choose the kind of document
Open Scan to PDF and pick Full page, Receipt, ID card or Business card. The camera guide changes shape to match, which makes it easier to keep the whole document inside the frame.
Open the camera and frame the document
Place the paper on a flat surface with light coming from both sides if possible. Keep your phone parallel to the page, fill most of the guide, and avoid letting your hand or phone cast a shadow across the text.
Let auto-capture take the shot, or press the shutter
When the page outline stays steady, auto-capture takes it without a tap, reducing camera shake. Switch to Manual when the paper has faint edges or a busy background. You can also use the flash when the device supports it, but watch for glare on laminated IDs.
Review the crop and appearance
Drag any corner that missed the paper edge, then choose Original, Grayscale, Black and white or Enhance. Brightness and contrast help faint receipts, but do not push them so far that light handwriting disappears. Accept the scan only when every corner and line of text is visible.
Add, arrange and create the PDF
Scan the remaining pages or add existing photos. Reorder them in the list, retake or edit any weak page, then press Create PDF. Check the preview, download the result, and open it once before sending it.
A scan can only preserve what the camera captured. Before deleting or returning the paper, zoom into the finished PDF and check names, dates, signatures, stamps and the edges of every page. Faint text lost to glare or an aggressive black-and-white filter cannot be recovered later.
Common questions
Are my document photos uploaded?
No. Edge detection, perspective correction, image enhancement and PDF creation all run in your browser. The photos and finished PDF stay on your device unless you choose to share them.
Why is the document outline not appearing?
The page may not contrast enough with the background. Put white paper on a dark plain surface, move away from patterned fabric, include all four corners, and add more even light. You can always capture manually and adjust the corners on the review screen.
Which filter should I use?
Enhance is a good default for printed pages. Grayscale works well for forms and receipts with coloured lighting. Black and white can make clean text very sharp, but it may erase pencil, faint stamps or light thermal-receipt printing. Original is safest for IDs and anything where colour matters.
Can it scan several pages into one PDF?
Yes. Keep capturing pages, arrange them in the order you want, then create one PDF. You can mix camera scans with photos already saved on the device.
Will the words in the scan be searchable?
No. Each scanned page is stored as an image inside the PDF. Turning photographed words into searchable text requires OCR, which this scanner does not currently perform.
Why does a laminated ID have a bright white patch?
That is glare. Turn off the flash, move the light to the side, and tilt the light rather than the card. Keep the phone parallel enough that the card remains rectangular, then correct the corners during review.
